BODIES BY BURGOON, A NORTHEAST MINNEAPOLIS PERSONAL TRAINING STUDIO EXPANDS 150 PERCENT, ACCOMODATING TREMENDOUS GROWTH EXPANSION PLANS INCLUDE CYCLING STUDIO, YOGA STUDIO, AND ROOFTOP FITNESS WITH DOWNTOWN VIEWS
Cycle and Yoga Studio Slated to Open in October 2015; Rooftop Fitness Studio
Slated to Open in Summer 2016 at Historic Thorp Building
JULY 23, 2015, MINNEAPOLIS -- Bodies by Burgoon, a Northeast Minneapolis personal training company, today announced a 3,800 square-foot expansion in it’s current location, a 150 percent increase in its current square footage to accommodate a new cycling studio, yoga studio and expanded training space in the historic Thorp Building at 1620 Central Ave. The second-level expansion of 2,300 square feet is expected to be completed in October 2015; the 1,500 square-foot rooftop studio with downtown cityscape views is expected to be completed in Summer 2016. The expansion brings to total square footage of the destination-style fitness studio to nearly 6,400 square feet.
“I credit intense cycling classes for my own recent increased lower-body strength and cardiovascular fitness level, which is what turned me on to the extraordinary opportunity,” said Jason Burgoon, owner and lead trainer. “I’ve watched people struggle to find cardiovascular training options that can be wildly challenging for the advanced, yet encouraging and low-impact for beginners and those recovering from injuries. Cycling can be JUST THAT. Additionally, yoga is tremendously valuable for clients as well; often when active people are going hard and fast all of the time, we all forget about the importance of stretching, posture, balance, flexibility, and even breathing properly. I’m no different. Adding the cycling and yoga to our second-level studio and rooftop gives so many more clients – new and existing – great options, regardless of their fitness levels.”
Bodies by Burgoon is located on the rear side of the fast-filling and highly-visible Thorp Building at 18th and Central in Northeast Minneapolis. Its neighbors are the highly lauded new distillery Tattersall, and cycling legend (Greg) LeMond Cycles. The quickly growing business has increased its active client base by more than 600 percent in two years. On average, more than 200 clients each week are served by the team’s three trainers whom, collectively, bring more than 40 years of training wisdom and experience to the clients they serve. Several other corporate and virtual services, as well as expansion outside of the state are in the works. Bodies by Burgoon has operated in the Thorp Building for nearly two years, and previously in another Northeast Minneapolis warehouse.
“We’ve got something special here: no mirrors, no ego, just fitness…a place where people of ALL fitness levels can define what strong means to them. And the clients are magnetic. Their encouragement and positivity sets the tone that makes us different. We’re taking this growth opportunity to capitalize on our familial and encouraging environment that cannot be replicated,” emphasized Burgoon.
Dawn Bryant, operations director, continued, “This calculated growth move positions us to bring more challenging workout options to our existing clients inside of our safe, judgment-free training studio, while offering new services at different price points to potential clients who haven’t yet had an opportunity to train in our unique studio.” She continued, “We’re staffing up right now – it takes the perfect combination of talent, compassion and confidence-building bad-assery to maintain the environment here that keeps clients flocking through the doors. We’re excited to see this team come together and change more lives.”
The company is currently interviewing for trainer, cycle instructor, and yoga instructor positions. Please email resumes and experience to email@example.com, attention: Dawn Bryant.
The current clients at the studio have churned out tremendous success stories, from conquering cancer, to winning back injury battles, to learning to walk, to winning marathons, to competing in Iron Man triathlons, to losing 130-plus pounds, to setting world weight lifting records at the age of 84. The success stories have been featured in local and national media, including People magazine and on Good Morning America.
